Child Friendly Banking in Uganda

Stephen, Managing director at Postbank Uganda, shares his thoughts with us about the Aflatoun programme and Child Friendly Banking: “Postbank Uganda’s mission is to empower its customers in a sustainable manner, therefore the partnership with PEDN [Uganda implementing organization] is in line with our mission since it’s an opportunity to empower children and instill a savings culture through offering them a flexible saving account tailored specifically to meet their needs".

Postcode Loterij. Doing Good in the Netherlands

On the 9th of February in the Netherlands De Nationale Postcode Loterij will give away a huge amount of money to charity. This spectacle is called the ‘Goed Geld Gala’ and our chair, Professor Jaap Doek, and Director, Hidde van der Veer, will be there to receive the price for Aflatoun.

Two special guests will speak during the show. Princess Laurentien van Oranje will represent the European Climate Foundation and Stephan Lewis from AIDS-Free World will be there too.

In 2011 Dutch people donated 270 million euro for 83 organizations. Princess Maxima was a special guest and spoke to all the organizations about the importance of their work. What will the amount be this year? We’ll keep you posted!

Aflatoun

Aflatoun provides children with the building blocks of life, encouraging them to save their resources and start social and financial microenterprises. Through Social & Financial Education, children are empowered to make a positive change in their lives and in their communities and may eventually break the cycle of poverty.

Today, Aflatoun and its partners are helping children learn about their rights, save and start enterprises in 80 countries. The map below indicated the countries in which Aflatoun is present.
